ActiveCampaign is best known for marketing automation: it’s our pick for automation in our email marketing guide because multi-step automations are included on every plan. It has four plans, Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise, and every price rises with the number of contacts on your list.

“Starts at” prices are for 1,000 contacts on yearly billing. Monthly prices rise with your contact list size. ActiveCampaign offers a free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee (see its terms for details).

What each plan includes

Starter ($15/mo)

Multi-step marketing automation, 500 AI credits and email sends up to 10 times your contact limit, for a single user. Segmentation is limited, with up to 15 active business goals. It doesn’t include cross-channel marketing or generative AI.

Plus ($49/mo)

Adds cross-channel marketing, generative AI for writing, standard segmentation and up to 25 active goals.

Pro ($79/mo)

Adds predictive sending at each contact’s best time, conditional content (one email with a version for each contact), advanced segmentation, attribution and conversion tracking, 3 user seats and up to 200 active goals. At 1,000 contacts that’s 12,000 email sends a month.

Enterprise ($145/mo)

Adds premium segmentation, single sign-on (SSO), 5 users and sends up to 15 times your contact limit, for larger teams with complex data and support needs.

Costs and catches to know about

  • Prices rise with contacts. The starting prices are for 1,000 contacts; a bigger list moves you into a higher price band.
  • Starter is basic. It has automation, but no cross-channel marketing, generative AI or advanced segmentation.
  • Users are limited. Starter and Plus include one user; you need Pro for 3 and Enterprise for 5.
  • The CRM costs extra. Sales pipelines and sales engagement are sold as add-ons.

Is ActiveCampaign worth the price?

If automation is central to how you market, such as welcome series, follow-ups and behavior-based emails, yes: it’s built for that, and automation is on every plan. If you mainly send a newsletter, it’s more than you need. MailerLite includes automations from $10.80 a month, and Brevo prices by emails sent rather than contacts.
