About

Shortlist Software helps small business owners choose software without spending days on research.

Every category of business software has dozens of options, and most review sites are written for big companies with IT departments. We focus on the tools small businesses actually use (email marketing, CRMs, website builders, scheduling, invoicing and AI tools) and on what matters to an owner who is also the IT department: what it really costs, how long it takes to set up, and whether you’ll outgrow it.

How we evaluate software

  • Real pricing. We check each tool’s current pricing page and plan limits, note the date we checked, and call out the price you’ll pay after any introductory offer ends.
  • Primary sources. Every guide is built from each company’s own pricing pages, plan details and documentation, so you’re not getting recycled claims from other review sites.
  • Fit for small teams. We judge tools by what a business with 1–20 people needs, not by enterprise feature lists.
  • Honest downsides. Every recommendation includes who it’s not right for.
  • Research, not hands-on testing. Our guides are based on research into pricing, plans and published documentation. We don’t claim to have personally tested every product, and we encourage you to use the free trials before you commit.
  • Kept current. Software changes constantly, so we review and update our guides regularly and show the date each one was last updated.
